Stephen Murray passed away at his home in Stamford on 12 March 2015 at the age of 52. He was the CEO and the president of CCMP, a leading private equity firm. Murray had left CCMP for one month due to what the company notified as “health related” issues.
Murray had been with the company and its predecessor firms since 1989. Initially, it was known as Chase Capital Partners, but it was changed to JP Morgan Partners after Chase was purchased by J.P Morgan. Before spinning out from JP Morgan in 2006, it was one of the biggest private equity firms in the world. Mr. Murray took over as the CEO in 2007, after Jeff Walker, a co-founder.
